Recognised by major UK private health insurers

Provider recognition does not guarantee that dietetic consultations are included in your individual policy. Your insurer will need to confirm your cover and any conditions.

When “just manage it” is not enough

You deserve more than another list of foods to avoid

IBS can affect how you work, travel, eat and socialise. Generic advice often leaves you trying restriction after restriction without understanding what is actually driving your symptoms.

  • You have tried cutting out foods but still feel unsure what to eat
  • Bloating, pain, constipation or diarrhoea keeps disrupting your day
  • You have been told your tests are normal, but your symptoms continue
  • You want an evidence-based plan that fits your individual situation
A straightforward route to care

How to use your insurance

Requirements vary between insurers and policies. These are the steps you will usually follow.

1

Book your free call

Talk through your symptoms, goals and the type of dietetic support that may suit you.

2

Check your cover

Ask whether outpatient dietetic consultations are included and whether an excess applies.

3

Arrange a referral

Some policies require a GP or consultant referral. Your insurer can confirm if yours does.

4

Get pre-authorisation

5

Begin your consultations

Questions about insurance

Frequently asked questions

Which private health insurers do you work with?

Aleks is currently recognised by Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, WPA and Aviva. Recognition means that eligible policyholders may be able to use their cover for consultations, but your individual policy terms still apply.

Does being recognised by my insurer guarantee that I am covered?

No. Policies differ, even within the same insurer. Contact your insurer and ask whether outpatient dietetic consultations are covered, whether an excess or contribution applies, and how many sessions can be authorised.

Do I need a GP or consultant referral?

This depends on your insurer and policy. Some clients need a referral from their GP or consultant, while others can self-refer. Ask your insurer what documentation they require before your first insured consultation.

What is a pre-authorisation number?

It is the reference your insurer provides after approving your treatment. You will usually need to share this number before an insured appointment, together with details of the sessions authorised and any excess that applies.

How many appointments will my insurer cover?

The number varies by policy and clinical approval. Your insurer should tell you how many sessions are authorised. If further appointments would be useful, you may be able to request additional authorisation or continue as a self-paying client.

What if my policy does not cover dietetic consultations?

You can still access support as a self-paying client. The free IBS Clarity Call can help you understand the available options before you decide whether to proceed.

Is the IBS Clarity Call charged to my insurance?

No. The 30-minute IBS Clarity Call is free and carries no obligation. It is an opportunity to discuss what has been happening, what you need and the most suitable next step. Any insured clinical appointments are arranged separately.
